Meet the Board

We provide strategic guidance and development to our organisation and programs.

  • Board Chair

    What I Do: I am currently a Lawyer at the Australian Securities Investments Commission in the Markets Enforcement team, and my work focuses on the enforcement and compliance of Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act.

    Qualifications: Bachelor of Laws with Honours and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. I am currently completing my Masters of Laws.

    Why YWB: YWB is a fantastic organization as it empowers young people to both develop and challenge themselves and their ideas. Doing so helps young Australians strengthen their passion and leadership skills so that they can make the change they’d like to see in the world.

    Value: I joined Youth Without Borders (YWB) in 2018 as a board member and was elected chair of the board in August 2019. I bring both a legal and policy perspective to the board, having previously worked for Queensland Department of Premier and Cabinet.

    Fun Fact: I like to try new hobbies, noteworthy hobbies I’ve enjoyed and kept at over the years are fencing and painting.

  • Secretary

    What I do: I'm a structural engineer.

    Qualifications: Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) - University of Queensland

    Why YWB: YWB has been supporting young people to advance their education and life skills for over a decade. I'm proud that we can empower such a diverse group of deserving young people. I am especially proud when I see our participants reaching their goals and even returning to volunteer with YWB.

    Value: I bring an understanding of working in and coordinating YWB's core program, Spark Engineering Camp, for three years. I have been with YWB since 2016 and have been a YWB Board Member since 2018.

    Fun fact: If you ask me about a camouflage pattern, I'll likely be able to recall its history back to you. I've collected military uniforms since I was at school.

    What I do: I work as a Corporate Finance Analyst at BDO, specialising in providing M&A, financial due diligence, and valuation services.

    Qualifications: I hold a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance), a Diploma in Computing, and I am a Provisional Member of CA ANZ.

    Why YWB: I am particularly drawn to the mission of Youth Without Borders due to my rural background and the evident value it holds. My primary objective is to empower young individuals, enabling them to achieve their goals and reach their full potential. As a Board Member, I aim to provide strategic guidance and support to the organisation, aligning perfectly with my passion for youth development and offering an opportunity to make a lasting and meaningful impact.

    Value: As a former CFO for a not-for-profit, with a background in performing financial audits, I have experience in establishing strong controls and fostering a process-focused environment, making me well-suited to ensure effective governance.

    Fun fact: I have played state-level cricket and badminton.

  • Board Member

    What I do: I currently work as a Solicitor at the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office. I have previously worked in Employment Law, Class Actions as well as running a piano tuition business for six years for students aged 4 to 17.

    Qualifications: II hold a Bachelor of Music (Classical Piano), Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws.

    Why YWB: I joined YWB in December 2019 as a board member because I am passionate about empowering young people and their access to opportunity. Coming from a rural background, I understand the need for organisations such as YWB in order to allow all young people to chase their passions and explore innovative ideas.

    Value: I bring experience with young and strong young energy to YWB and am eager to be a part of this youth focused initiative. I have six years of experience in student and protocol management within a school environment and an insight into the growing interest and curiosity of youth through my weekly piano teachings.

    Fun Fact: I am a classical pianist, an adrenaline junkie and traveler. I regularly run half marathons and love hiking; trekking the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal definitely topped the list, but also enjoy curling up with a juicy crime book.

    What I Do: Currently working as a Consultant at Ernst & Young in Business Transformation, with the main focus in program management.

    Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (Mechanical Systems) and Master of Mechanical Engineering, University of Melbourne.

    Why YWB: I have volunteered with the Spark Engineering Camp for 5 years whilst at university, having attended the camp as a student in 2014. Over the years, I have seen the positive impacts our programs make on young people and their communities. I truly value the work we do and believe that we are making a difference. I want to continue to be involved with YWB in order to give back to the community, help take our organisation to the next level, impact more students and further deliver life-changing programs.

    Value: I am passionate about STEM education and have many years of volunteering experience in the STEM sector across multiple programs. Having previously been part of Spark Engineering Camp in various managing roles, including the National Chair, gave me a clear understanding of project delivery and project lifecycle within YWB. Through my work experience, I bring knowledge around program management, governance, reporting and scheduling.

    Fun Fact: I can juggle and ride a unicycle.

  • Board Member

    What I Do: I work as an Undergraduate Civil Engineer at Aurecon, within its Roads team.

    Qualifications: I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Laws/Engineering at Monash University.

    Why YWB: I was a consistent volunteer for Spark Engineering Camp for almost 5 years - I started off as a mentor in 2017, and worked in various roles, until my most recent position as Spark’s National Chair in 2021. My direct involvement in Spark gave me the opportunity to see the real, lasting impacts that this organisation has on the wider community. Due to my passion for Spark and the work of YWB, I wanted to continue my involvement in this organisation through a role on the Board.

    Value: I am passionate about increasing diversity in STEM and ensuring that young people from all backgrounds have equal access to educational opportunities. Furthermore, my history at Spark Engineering Camp equips me with a deep understanding of the logistics and operation of YWB projects.

    Fun Fact: I like to travel – one of the most exciting things I’ve done so far is husky sledding in the Arctic Circle!

  • Board Member

    What I Do: I am a government lawyer with Australia’s corporate regulator specializing in investigative, enforcement and compliance activities in relation to conduct in Australia’s licensed markets

    Qualifications: Bachelor of Law/ Commerce, Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, admitted as an Australian legal practitioner since 2015

    Why YWB: I believe in the work of YWB and the importance of empowering our youth at a time when they need most guidance and direction. As a youth, I’ve had the privilege of receiving much support and encouragement at a pivotal stage in my life and look forward to paying that forward through my role on the board of YWB

    Value: I have a strong background in regulatory compliance and conduct risk management which will support the activities of the board in oversight of the framework in which YWB operates. I am also keen to see the reach of YWB’s good work expand to offer the same opportunities to disadvantaged youth

    Fun Fact: I like to dip my toe into novel and niche hobbies. Current area of interest is the dying art of taxidermy and skeletal articulation. It’s the perfect union of art meets science (and the slightly macabre). Let’s not let these arts die!
